Republicans: “I’m Not A Doctor, But…”
I’m not a doctor, but conservatives should probably not kill their families, friends, and themselves by existentially opposing basic measures of public health to own the libs.
There is one magical phrase conservatives love that gives them the opportunity to ignore any inconvenient facts or scientifically-proven realities that experts confirm are true in order for conservatives to avoid admitting they might be wrong about something they’re momentarily going to say:
“I’m not a ________, but __________.”
Examples:
- “I’m not an economist, but tax cuts for the rich will pay for themselves and trickle down wealth to everyone.”
- “I’m not a lawyer, but Trump deserves to have his frivolous election lawsuits alleging rampant voter fraud litigated.”
- “I’m not a biologist, but evolution isn’t real and the fossil record is a hoax, and microevolution might be real but macroevolution is definitely an atheist scam to sell books.”
- “I’m not a scientist, but I don’t believe in climate change, and if it’s real then humans aren’t causing it, and if we are we can’t destroy the economy to do anything about it, and if we can then we shouldn’t because we’re not communist.”
