Being Adults About It

do yourself a favor

and come to the realization

your parents were not perfect

and never could be

they were growing up too

and it was understandably childish of you

to expect otherwise.

Company Man

the shop dog kept watch for years

wagging his tail at the passersby

inviting them to take a step inside

and consider the merchandise in stock

and he spied for shoplifters ready to bark

and the boss owners provided him his needs

for being a loyal company man

and kept him on the payroll even after retired and blind

as he slept in the corner sniffing customer shoes

with a pension of petting and hourly treats.

Eons Of Old

you can only truly understand in any profound way

those who are your contemporaries
