Did Someone Big Flip On Donald Trump?
The raid on Trump’s house seems like a late-stage thing to do in a secretive criminal investigation into the former president.
The FBI’s search of Mar-a-Lago is the tip of the investigative iceberg. Was there a prior subpoena that he ignored? Was Trump lying about some of the documents during the feds’ previous, less invasive visits to Mar-a-Lago?
Was the catalyst for the raid related to information gleaned from the other criminal investigations into Trump’s conduct before and during the January 6th riot? Or perhaps the National Archives was alarmed at the sensitivity of the classified materials missing, and the FBI has found evidence of Trump passing on certain documents to unknown third parties? Trump did just host a Saudi golf tournament at his New Jersey course.
DOJ officials would not likely provide Trump with a warrant explaining their investigations alongside a list of the material evidence they’re looking for and taking possession of if they weren’t confident that this epic tip-off would not jeopardize the investigation or future prosecution. And perhaps the FBI found other evidence of crimes at Mar-a-Lago to help their other investigations.
