A Robot Wrote These 25 Funny Jokes About Donald Trump
AI has a childish sense of humor when it comes to writing jokes about our former president.
Last night I was playing around with ChatGPT, the new AI robot that can perform all kinds of writing prompts, and, as most of my comedy here on Medium centers on how batshit crazy the Republican Party has become, I was playing around experimenting with prompts about the Trump family.
ChatGPT has a pretty sophisticated AI, and the results were fun when I typed in prompts like “write me 10 insults for Donald Trump.” The AI is still quite a distance away from coming up with original humor, or being mistaken for real, professional, human writing, but repeating the prompt many times for roughly 300 jokes actually resulted in some childishly funny ones.
They’re not necessarily the most original jokes, and who knows where the AI is finding the setups and punchlines, but it’s interesting to see the strengths and limitations of AI at the moment. The majority of the jokes it came up with (that I didn’t include here) had awkward phrasing or non sequitur punchlines, but we’re definitely a step forward toward homanoid AI processing.
